<p>The field of information engineering is based heavily on Engineering and mathematics, particularly <a href="Probability" title="Probability">probability</a>, statistics, <a href="Calculus" title="Calculus">calculus</a>, <a href="Linear_algebra" title="Linear algebra">linear algebra</a>, <a href="Optimization" class="mw-redirect" title="Optimization">optimization</a>, <a href="Differential_equations" class="mw-redirect" title="Differential equations">differential equations</a>, <a href="Variational_calculus" class="mw-redirect" title="Variational calculus">variational calculus</a>, and <a href="Complex_analysis" title="Complex analysis">complex analysis</a>.
